Our Team of Devoted Veterinary Professionals

We always knew that we wanted exceptional individuals to be part of our NV family. People that have A* grades in kindness and compassion are our people. People who deeply understand the power of the human animal bond, and what our pets bring to our lives, belong with us.

As well as devoted pet owners themselves, every member of our small team is experienced in the veterinary field. Our whole team is a vital source of inspiration, constantly innovating and creating new approaches to review and improve the care we deliver for our patients and their people.

We feel grateful to have this group of fabulous people with us on our journey together at Nightingale Vets. Scroll down to meet our team and learn all about us.

With grateful thanks to Belinda Grant for taking such lovely piccies of us all www.belindagrantphotography.co.uk/

Meet the Nightingale Vets Dream Team

  • Amber Shenfield

    CLIENT CARE

Having initially been a client with us and loving our ethos, Amber joined our Client Care team in July 2025. Amber is a warm, super-friendly and delightful colleague, and she’s like the glue that sticks us all together, making sure we’re all kept up to date and informed during the day.

Amber joins us from a human pharmacy background, so her knowledge of medicines is vast. Her kindness shines through with everyone she meets, so whether you're calling to book an appointment, need advice about an insurance claim or a calming cup of tea and biccie on arrival with a sympathetic ear to listen to your worries, Amber is your go-to.

Amber is also responsible for some of the financial aspects of practice management, and is always on hand to help. Efficiency is her middle name as she adeptly deals with insurance claims and queries, meaning claims are submitted in record time, meaning peace of mind for our clients as Amber has got everything in hand.

Amber has also recently celebrated her engagement to her Connor, and is excited to be wedding planning! We can’t wait to see her in her beautiful dress.

Cat-mum to Baby Fern and Martha, Amber loves her feline family, and we love Amber!

  • Anna Walsh RVN

    REGISTERED VETERINARY NURSE

Anna is nothing short of fabulous. Her "can do" approach means she definitely can and she absolutely does anything she sets her mind to. Not only is Anna a creative supertalent, making homemade candles and more, she bakes, runs, and looks after her three children.

Devoted petparent to Bella the labrador, as well as Rolo and Pearl the bunnies, Anna makes time for everyone, and is exceptionally good at making everyone around her feel special. This applies most of all to her patients who Anna is so attentive to, using her vast amount of experience to make sure they all have the very best care. Her attention to detail means she is a whizz at imaging and is particularly skilled at taking dental x-rays getting the best images from even the tiniest of mouths so we can see where their teeth need help.

From guinea pigs and poorly bunnies that need intensive care to get them feeling better, to always being ready to scrub in and assist with complicated surgeries, Anna is the colleague everybody wishes they had.. and we're so lucky to have her!

  • Becks Darby RVN

    REGISTERED VETERINARY NURSE

Beautiful Becks has been part of the Nightingale Vets team since we opened our doors in November 2023. Not only is Becks a supremely experienced veterinary nurse having worked in a referral hospital specialising in emergency and critically ill patients, her next-level organisational skills make sure the practice runs smoothly and we have everything we need to provide superb care. We don't call her our "Stock Queen" for nothing.

Becks is also something of a chameleon, taking on administrative tasks involving our popular health plans, sorting the rota so we all know when we’re supposed to be and where, and more. She is also quick to don her cape and swoop in to help with patients when an extra pair of experienced hands is needed.

Becks is married to Simon and is mum to baby Bea. She has endless amounts of patience especially when it comes to her naughty spaniel Bear who likes to eat things he shouldn't- the last time was a whole pack of Celebrations chocolates!  As a qualified sailor, and skiing enthusiast, Becks loves outdoor pursuits, except when naughty Bear goes AWOL!

Fortunately to counter Bear’s misdemeanours, Becks is also dog mum to the immaculately behaved labrador Rune (seen sitting with Amber above), who is taking her role as big sister to baby Bea very seriously.

  • Dr Emily Nightingale DVM MRCVS

    VETERINARY SURGEON AND PRACTICE OWNER

Dr Emily has two decades of experience in providing care to patients of all shapes and sizes.

With an emphasis on supporting the human animal bond, Dr Emily loves looking after both her patients and their owners, and understands that excellent veterinary support involves not just the pet, but care for their families too.

As a true all-rounder Emily enjoys the many different and varied aspects to life as a vet, ranging from performing complex life-saving surgeries, carrying out dental procedures, to quietly and sensitively helping owners navigate the difficult terrain of pet loss, as well as holding the government qualification permitting her to certify pets for travel.

When not working Dr Emily is very involved in the local community, attending dog shows, hosting local pub quizzes, making presentations to the WI and supporting charities and has had scientific papers published on how animals have an impact on health of those around them.

Most recently she has delivered talks at the London Vet Show, and the Vet Mums conference, sharing her love of how we at NV support people and their pets.

Together with her husband Kern, Emily has three children as well as Poppy the chocolate labrador, Flora the escape artist red fox labrador, and Blossom the cat, and couldn’t be happier or prouder to be delivering the level of care we do here at NV together with our most fabulous team.

  • Holly Hanssen Morters SVN

    STUDENT VETERINARY NURSE

Proud doesn’t even begin to half cover how we feel about our Holly. Holly joined us in March 2025 as a work experience student and instantly showed an innate talent for caring for animals. After a few weeks of work experience, we offered her a position as our first ever Animal Care Assistant. Since formally joining the team in June 2025, Holly has grown in both knowledge and confidence, gaining experience with a colourful variety of creatures, from chickens, feral cats, to terrapins, hedgehogs and kestrels, as well as helping the veterinary team on emergency call-outs to wildlife. Most recently she has excelled yet again in caring for a week old litter of baby mice (called “pinkies”) that were brought into the practice. Holly successfully hand-reared them, feeding them hourly- day and night!, and released them to the wild when they were strong enough.

When the opportunity arose for the practice to enrol a Student Veterinary Nurse, we chose Holly to support through the challenging and demanding course at the Dick White Academy in Newmarket. We know she has everything it takes, and more, to become an exceptional Registered Veterinary Nurse.

Holly has a menagerie of animals at home including a Royal python called Luci, a crested gecko called Oswin, a very handsome (and huge!) Czechoslovakian Wolf dog puppy called Ash, and a beautiful Tamaskan Shepherd called Lagertha (pictured).

Holly is a highly valued member of our team, and we know she will continue to make us proud! Well done Holly!

  • Jess Heron RVN

    REGISTERED VETERINARY NURSE

You know the type of person that everyone just instantly loves? The kind of person that walks straight into your heart and you feel like you’ve known them forever? Well, that’s our Jess.

Jess is a highly experienced veterinary nurse and is a wonderful addition to our gorgeous nursing team.

Not only is Jess skilled in every aspect of nursing (we are yet to find something she is not brilliant at!), she is also a trained clinical coach. This means she is providing support and mentoring to our Student Veterinary Nurse Holly, expertly guiding her through her rigorous training.

Additionally Jess is undertaking further qualifications in mental health first aid (for humans!), and studying clinical animal behaviour to become even more well equipped to support our patients and their owners.

Jess has a super power which is skilfully monitoring very sick animals during high risk anaesthetics, using her keen powers of observation and her extensive knowledge to make sure the poorliest of patients remain safely asleep under her watchful eye during their complex procedures.

Jess is dog mum to the teeny tiny cockerpoo Peggy, and enjoys running, and is a real asset to our already incredible nursing team. Jess, you make everything just that little bit more sparkly and we’re so pleased you’re part of our NV family.

  • Jo Calvesbert RVN

    REGISTERED VETERINARY NURSE

We are incredibly lucky to have Jo "on loan" every now and then. You can usually spot her as she loves a bit of neon, and leopard print, and if you can't see her, you'll probably hear her driving on her way to us playing Take That songs.

Jo is, and this is by her own admission, a completely obsessed Take That megafan. She has seen them perform all over the world and her dream came true recently when she met Gary Barlow.

Her devotion to boybands is only excelled by two things and that is her love of cats (she has four of her own. Nigel, Moti, Mahal, Beryl and the newest addition Alan) and her impeccable clinical standards. Jo is very experienced especially in emergency and critical care, and is most at home monitoring high risk anaesthetics, making sure they are kept safely asleep whilst the vets do their thing.

Jo also makes Marmite and cheese pinwheels for us as a treat when she comes to work with us, and it has totally divided the team. Fortunately, we aren't divided when it comes to how much we love Jo.

We think she is awesome and always look forward to her days with us. Come back and see us soon Jo!

  • Olivia "Liv" Curtis RVN

    REGISTERED VETERINARY NURSE

One word to describe Liv? It would be Luminous.

Liv joined our beautiful team in December 2025 as a newly qualified nurse, having gained her prestigious Registered Veterinary Nurse title from the well renowned Dick White Academy.

Liv is conscientious and caring, and very gentle with her patients, making sure they all feel as comfortable as possible, and loves keeping them extra cosy and warm as she carefully monitors them under anaesthetic. With her attention to detail, Liv has got off to the most spectacular start with us at Nightingale Vets, including taking dental x-rays and carrying out minor procedures. Liv is also currently studying clinical behaviour, to be able to help our more sensitive patients and to support their families.

Liv is also a trained make up artist so we regularly ask her for tips! Liv specialises in wedding make-up so she is often in demand during wedding and party season as she kindly helps her friends and family get glammed up. She loves running and healthy eating.. although apparently recently admitted her guilty pleasure is a double McD’s cheeseburger and a Fanta!

You’ll recognise Liv from her bright smile, and her luminous stethoscope which is only outshone by her shiny and kind personality.

Liv is dog mum to fox red labradors, Nellie and Olive and we feel very lucky to have Liv on our team.

  • Paula Chapman

    VETERINARY RECEPTIONIST

Paula is a rare and beautiful creature. We sadly don't see her as often as we'd like at Nightingale Vets, but we love it when she helps us out on reception, providing us with holiday cover when needed.

Paula is a mum, owns a gym together with her husband (check out Loose Cannons Conditioning) as well as being an experienced qualified veterinary nurse, sports massage therapist and is a machine when it comes to lifting heavy weights and kettlebell training.

Paula loves her allotment and last year grew a mega pumpkin that weighed 25kg (that's almost 4 stone!), as well as being a superb quizmaster writing questions for the annual charity fundraiser gym quiz which is always a great success!

Paula has a lovely little spaniel called Cuba, who provides encouragement for people training at the gym with his permanently bottom wiggle and waggy tail.

In her spare time she loves heading off in her trusty campervan for weekends away dog walking and exploring cycle routes in the UK.

  • Dr Radley Edwards VetMB MRCVS

    VETERINARY SURGEON

Good things come to those who wait, and Dr Radley has definitely been worth waiting for. Dr Radley joined us in March and is already hugely popular with patients and petparents alike, and has settled in to NV life very quickly. Infact it’s hard to remember a time when he wasn’t part of our NV family.

Dr Radley graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2010, having already completed a degree in Genetics. Dr Radley gained extensive experience for many years in small animal veterinary practice as well as having a senior role in a pharmaceutical company, helping and advising vets across the country, sharing his knowledge to help people and their pets even from afar.

Radley has a special interest in surgery, ultrasound, and dental procedures, and has completed a course in Veterinary Acupuncture and is delighted to be bringing this service to our patients at NV. He also holds the Official Government Veterinarian qualification, permitting him to certify pets for travelling abroad.

Dr Radley embodies everything Nightingale Vets is about- kindness, ultra-compassion, knowledge and supreme levels of care. We hear from our patients that he gives the best cuddles and in quieter moments he can be found with our hospitalised patients, giving them extra RLC- Radley’s Loving Care.

Outside of work, Radley is a competitive dance champion, having represented the UK in Jive and Latin dancing. He is also rather partial to a collie dog, and loves cats, having his own Tigger the ragdoll at home.

We are thrilled to have Radley onboard the good ship Nightingale Vets, and we are excited for him to teach us some snazzy dance moves! One two cha cha cha!

  • Sheila Lambert

    CLIENT CARE

“Mamma Sheils” has a wealth of experience having been Head Receptionist and working in a busy veterinary practice for many years.

Sheila is the calming voice you’ll hear when you call us, and she will know just what to do to help, as well as being the smiling face when you walk through our door.

As a knowledgeable dog owner, Sheila has experienced the highs and lows of pet parenting and this shines through with her kind and empathic approach for any pet or owner who is facing difficulties.

Always ready to come and have a cuddle with patients waiting in reception, Sheila is particularly fond of collies, as you can see by her incredible body art.

Sheila is the first on the scene if someone needs a hug, or a soothing cuppa, and is a wonderful presence to have in reception.

Sheila is also incredibly generous, treating the team regularly to gifts of appreciation, as well as the most incredible cakes. We love her most of all though for her hugs and for being so kind to everyone around her.
